Tours & Shuttles
At KMC and the park, there is a surprising array of amenities, services, and activities. You can have a fulfilling vacation without leaving the park. For those of you who do, our tours cover the many wonders of the Big Island. Advance reservations recommended due to limited seating; please call (808) 967-8333.Tours are conducted by experienced guides in air-conditioned vehicles. In addition to the narrated portions of the tour, guests will also have an opportunity to explore certain sites on their own. Due to the nature of certain attractions, access may not be suitable for people with limited mobility.
For your touring comfort, we recommend that you dress in layers, bring water, and wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes or sneakers.

KMC TOURS:
Make your plans to enjoy the wonders of Hawaii Island!
Advance reservations recommended. Tours are conducted by experienced,
Hawaii Certified KMC guides in air-conditioned vehicles.

Kilauea Volcano Tour
Monday & Thursday, 8:30 am – 4:15 pm
(*2-Part Tour from 8:30 am – noon and 1:00 – 4:15 pm. Lunch on own)
Discover the magnificence of the active Kilauea Volcano; from its majestic crater
surroundings to the hardened lava river beds flowing down to the ocean’s edge.
Stops include the Kilauea Visitor Center, Jaggar Museum, Kilauea ‘Iki, Thurston Lava
Tube, Volcano Art Center Gallery, Mauna Ulu and more.

Hilo & Beyond Tour
Wednesday & Saturday, 8:30 am – 4:15pm
See the beauty of this quaint fishing town and view Akaka Falls, Rainbow Falls, Big
Island Candies, Hilo Coffee Mill, Liliuokalani Park, Hilo Farmer’s Market, Mauna Loa
Macadamia Nut Farm, Akatsuka Orchid Gardens, and Panaewa
Zoo. Some stops may require a separate entrance fee.

Scenic Island Tour
Tuesday & Friday, 8:30 am – 5:30 pm
Let our well versed tour guides take you around our beautiful island. Tour highlights
include the Punalu’u Black Sand Beach, Punalu’u Bake Shop, Pu’uhonua O Honaunana
(Place of Refuge; $3.00 entry fee not included in tour price), Kailua-Kona, Waimea
Country and the breathtaking Hamakua Coast.

OTHER RECREATIONAL OFFERINGS
Contracted helicopter tours, golf packages, etc. are available at discounted rates
to KMC guests. The Recreation Lodge features video games, pool
tables, board games, and more. The Bowling Lanes offer discounted rates
for groups of 16 or more people with advance reservations. Outdoor recreation
includes a tennis court, basketball court, baseball field, volleyball area,

ELIGIBILITY:
Open to all active duty and retired Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard), Reserve, National Guard, and Other Uniformed Services (Public Health Service, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.) Also, Armed Forces dependents, current and retired Department of Defense (DOD) civilian employees including Coast Guard Civilian Employees, and sponsored guests. (Other personnel on official business with the Department of Defense may also be eligible.)Open Door Policy for Veterans
In recognition for being part of the nation’s military family and in an effort to Say Thanks and reunite the Veterans of America with the Active Duty and Retired service members, KMC is proud to announce, for a limited period, an open door policy for all who have so generously served.
In light of KMC’s continuing efforts to capture military memories and stories of this Historical District we will be providing an avenue giving each visiting veteran guest an opportunity to share military history and stories of interest. Your experience as a veteran is still valuable and important to us in many ways.
Take advantage of this period to reconnect with others in the military family and share with us. Your participation and presence at KMC will generate patriotic momentum while you enjoy the company of fellow service members right here at the Historic Volcano Resort.

Notes for Open Door Policy:
- Peak Periods are reserved for Active duty and Retired Veterans.
- DD 214 required to establish military service.
- The DD Form 214, officially called DD Form 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty, is generally referred to as a DD 214. It is a document of the United States Department of Defense, issued upon a military service member's retirement, separation or discharge from active-duty military.
- Valid military ID or Departement of Defense ID and current Leave and Earnings Statement (LES) required for check-in.
- Advance Reservations required.

DEPOSIT INFORMATION:
A one night deposit by Check, Money Order, Visa, MasterCard or American Express is required within 15 days of your booking date. It is refundable if a CANCELLATION notice is received at least 30 days prior to your arrival date. All arrival and departure date changes must be made prior to this 30-day period to avoid a deposit forfeit and/or EARLY CHECK-OUT FEE (equivalent to one night’s lodging). Late check-outs when approved are subject to a LATE CHECK-OUT FEE.
CHECK-IN: 3:00 p.m. • CHECK-OUT: 11:00 a.m.
SHUTTLE SERVICE: Available to and from the Hilo Airport for authorized patrons and sponsored civilians.
FY 2010 Fee: $10 per person, one way. Schedule as noted below.
Shuttle reservations or cancellations must be made at least 48 hours in advance to avoid a service fee. Allow 1 hour travel time each way.
8:30 a.m. • 12:00 p.m. • 2:30 p.m.
PICK-UP AT HILO AIRPORT:
11:00 a.m. • 1:30 p.m. • 3:45 p.m.
During peak periods, there may be an additional airport shuttle pick-up on a Thursday or Friday evening. Please call (808) 967-8333 for more information.
HAWAII VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK FEE:
KMC is located within the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, an entrance fee of $10 per vehicle or $5 per person on our shuttle will be assessed at the toll booth. The fee is good for seven days. Please retain your receipt to re-enter park. Various National Park passes such as the Golden Eagle, Golden Age, etc. are honored.
DRIVING DIRECTIONS:
From Hilo Airport, turn left onto Hwy.11 and travel south for about 28 miles until you reach the main entrance of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park (past mile marker 28). It will take about 1 hour.
From Kona International Airport, turn right onto Hwy. 19 south, which will become Hwy. 11 as you pass through Kona. It is about 100 miles to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and can take about 3 hours.
Enter the park to get to KMC. Drive 1 mile past the Kilauea Visitor Center, passing the steam vents. There will be a grassy front lawn and row of cottages. In the center of the row is the Headquarters/Front Desk building for check-ins. For convenience and ease, most guests will fly into Hilo Airport.
